Description

These super easy caramel apple puff pastries are such a sweet delight, perfectly spiced, and have that signature bakery-style vibe!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (17.3 oz) package of frozen puff pastry
  • 2 apples, cored, peeled, and sliced into 1/4 inch slices (about 2 cups)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • caramel sauce topping
  • egg wash: 1 large beaten egg mixed with 1 tbsp milk
  • optional: coarse sugar such as turbinado, sliced almonds, powdered sugar.

Instructions

  1. To begin, make sure to thaw out your puff pastry sheets (according to package directions).
  2. Line a large baking sheet with foil. You may need two baking sheets if you do not have a large enough one for all pastries to fit. Set aside.
  3. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  4. In a large bowl, combine apple slices, sugar, flour, lemon juice, and all of the spices. Mix until thoroughly combined. Set apple filling aside to rest as oven preheats.
  5. Carefully open thawed puff pastry sheets. There should be two sheets of puff pastry in the package, each sheet will make 6 pastries, thus making 12 in total.
  6. Using a small paring knife, cut puff pastry into 6 rectangles. Repeat step for other puff pastry sheet.
  7. Place pastries onto baking sheet. Spoon apple filling onto center of each pastry, about 1 generous spoonful.
  8. Lightly brush outer rim of pastry with egg wash. Sprinkle the tops with coarse sugar, if using.
  9. Place into oven and bake for 10-15 minutes, until puff pastry has puffed up and is golden brown.
  10. Drizzle tops of pastries with caramel, sliced almonds, and powdered sugar, if desired. Enjoy!

Notes

I do not recommend refrigerating these pastries as puff pastry tends to get soggy and is best enjoyed fresh out of the oven immediately.
