Description

These Blue Cheese Turkey Burgers are so incredibly juicy and brimming with flavor. Fresh blue cheese crumbles are infused within the turkey burger meat with spices, and then topped with caramelized onion jam. The flavors are drool-worthy, and these burgers whip up in a flash with a simple sear on the stovetop!

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lbs ground turkey
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon Creole Cajun Seasoning– homemade or store-bought
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Kosher salt & fresh ground black pepper- to taste
  • 1 teaspoon dijon mustard
  • ⅓ cup plain panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley
  • ¾ cup blue cheese crumbles
  • 2 tablespoons avocado oil (or olive oil), for cooking

For burger assembly:

  • 6 brioche burger buns (or buns of choice)
  • Butter, for toasting buns
  • Caramelized onion jam, store-bought
  • Lettuce & sliced tomatoes

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, egg, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, salt/pepper to taste, dijon mustard, breadcrumbs, worcestershire sauce, parsley, and blue cheese crumbles. Use your hands (fitted with disposable gloves if desired) to work the mixture until just combined. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it sit for at least 20 minutes for the flavors to meld.
  2. Coat your hands with a bit of olive oil and evenly divide and shape the mixture into 6 patties- careful not to overwork the meat. Set the patties aside on a foil/parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
  3. Heat a large cast-iron skillet over medium to medium-high heat for about 3-4 minutes until it’s nice and hot. Then coat the pan with oil.
  4. Working in batches, gently place the patties into the hot skillet and cook until the patties achieve a nice, browned sear on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side. Then transfer the cooked burgers to a clean plate and set aside while you cook the remaining patties. Then let the patties cool for a few minutes before burger assembly.
  5. Toast the buns: Working in batches, smear a bit of butter on each side of the buns and place them into the skillet to toast for about 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
  6. To serve: Smear caramelized onion jam on each side of the buns. Add the blue cheese turkey patty and finish burger assembly with lettuce and a tomato slice. Enjoy!
