This Autumn Apple Sangria is the perfect boozy drink to make during the holidays; you can make it ahead of time and all the prep work is done!
I’ve officially been bit by the travel bug.
I went to New York this past summer and I am literally counting down the days until I get to go back. I’ve always heard stories about New York and how magical it is but it’s nothing like really being there. I planned a trip by myself and I had the best time of my life (so far). From the moment that I stepped out of the airport to the moment I left, I was captivated by it all.
Now most people looked at me like I was crazy when I told them that I was going to NYC by myself. I was warned to keep my wallet close, I was warned to not walk around at night- basically everyone tried every scare tactic imaginable. But something inside me felt like I needed to do this for myself.
I had so much fun playing tourist and going to bars and eateries by myself. No one knew me, there was this complete sense of newness and inspiration. One thing I noticed about my trip to NYC was that everyone was moving with urgency and determination. It seemed as thought everyone was on a mission to get somewhere. I remember waiting in line at a restaurant and these girls in front of me were talking about their jobs. I don’t know why but they just seemed so sure of themselves and where they were headed in the corporate world.
I gained such a sense of self and went home with an immense amount of inspiration. That trip made me want to travel to more places and really see the world. So far, I’ve got a few places on my list that I fully intent to visit very soon. It’s so good to get out of your daily routine and visit new places and take in new cultures. I was inspired by so many things that I never experienced before I traveled.
Aside from my thirst to see the world, this Autumn Apple Sangria is most definitely quenching it. There are so many different ways and combinations to make sangria. What I love most about this Autumn Apple Sangria is the different notes; earthy from the cinnamon sticks, sweet from the oranges and apples, and so many more. Sangria also makes for a quick and easy Fall beverage that’s perfect for the holiday table or to make you a hero at the party.
You basically throw fresh fruits into the pitcher; add your wine, brandy, orange juice, apple cider and let it sit and work it’s magic for a few hours. The booze sits and soaks in the juices from all that fruit and it becomes a real gem. Seriously, you’ve got to make this!
- 2 medium apples, sliced thinly (I prefer honey crisp)
- 1 large orange, sliced thinly
- ½ cup pomegranate seeds
- 1 750ml bottle white wine
- 2 cups sparking apple cider
- ½ cup orange juice
- ¼ cup brandy
- 2-3 cinnamon sticks, plus more for garnish
- In a large pitcher, add apples, oranges, pomegranate seeds, and cinnamon sticks.
- Pour in white wine, apple cider, orange juice, and brandy.
- Stir all ingredients together.
- Let sit in refrigerator for at least 4 hours (6-10 hours or longer is best!)
- Pour into desired glasses and garnish with extra pomegranate seeds and cinnamon sticks.
