Batch Passion Fruit Margarita 😎

I’m often asked what inspires my recipe development and the answer is multiple sources. However, one of them is whenever I’m dining out and I get to experience a dish or drink that I cannot stop thinking about. We recently went to this dope little spot that served up the most delicious passion fruit margaritas. It was so good, y’all. I think I enjoyed that drink more than I did my actual food when it came out lol. So, that’s how this margarita recipe came to be.

Listen, passion fruit flavor is a real tropical delight and this margarita recipe has huge passion fruit essence galore. This is a quick and easy, big-batch aka pitcher-style margarita recipe that serves an intimate crowd. It’s clutch for small gatherings + parties and folks will loveeeee this one I tell ya! 🙌🏾

Why This Batch Margarita Recipe Works:

  • PASSION FRUIT ABUNDANCE: If you enjoy passion fruit, this cocktail has plentyyy of passion fruit flavor from key ingredients. Much like papaya and mango; this tropical fruit is intensely aromatic, perfectly sweet with a hint of tartness, and laced with pops of citrus.
  • SO SIMPLE YET SWOON-WORTHY: The ingredient lineup here is not doing the most at all, she’s quick and easy, I promise. Although this baby is fuss-free, the finished passion fruit margarita is sooo dreamy and has that wow factor. Have your own happy hour at the crib! 😏
  • PERFECT FOR ENTERTAINING: Whether you’re looking to whip up a cocktail for holiday gatherings or just a beverage to enjoy on the weekends with your crew, this drink is it. Make this pitcher passion fruit margarita ahead of time and pour it up for celebrations, parties, and all that’s in between!

Key Ingredients In This Recipe:

(Note: the full ingredients list, including measurements, is provided in the recipe card directly below.)

  • Passion fruit juice– You’ll need 100% good ole passion fruit juice for this margarita recipe. It’s loaded with bright and rich passion fruit taste.
  • Tequila– I use blanco (silver) tequila for this passion fruit margarita. This type of tequila is not aged in oak barrels which means it consistently delivers a pure and natural flavor. That pureness in blanco serves up the best passion fruit margarita! I personally love Espolon and Casamigos.
  • Triple sec– This is a slightly sweet, clear liqueur that has a high concentration of orange essence (from orange peels). I really enjoy Cointreau (a bit of a higher-end label), but triple sec works just as well!
  • Lime juice– Preferably fresh-squeezed for cocktails! 👌🏾
  • Passion fruit syrup– To amplify the passion fruit vibe in this beverage, passion fruit puree syrup comes in and cranks up the tropical volume. In addition to that, it adds plenty of sweetness as well. I use this one.
  • Tajín– This fan-favorite chili lime seasoning mixture is used for rimming glasses. The flavor compliments the passion fruit margaritas so nicely!

How To Make This Big-Batch Passion Fruit Margarita:

(Note: please see the recipe card directly below for the complete written instructions.)

  1. In a large pitcher or carafe, combine the passion fruit juice, tequila, triple sec, lime juice, and passion fruit syrup and stir well to fully combine.
  2. Refrigerate the pitcher or carafe to chill the margarita until ready to serve.
  3. When ready to serve, prepare the individual glasses. Add Tajín to a small plate and spread out in an even layer. Run a lime wedge around the rim or side of the cocktail glass. Then dip into the Tajín to coat.
  4. Give the pitcher margarita a good stir before pouring. Fill the glasses with ice and pour it up, pour it up. Cheers, peeps! 🕺🏾

Make This Passion Fruit Margarita Into A Mocktail Situation:

This passion fruit cocktail can easily be made alcohol-free for my non-alcoholic peeps. Use a non-alcoholic tequila (we love Ritual zero proof!), and to replace the Triple sec, you can use orange juice or orange-flavored still or bubbly water. I love a good mocktail as well, ayyyeeee! 🤙🏾
