Key facts about these BAKED HONEY CHIPOTLE WINGS:
- Baked: Yes, again, they’re baked! Not fried. I’m here to tell you that you *can* indeed achieve crispy chicken skin in the oven. The secret is to toss the chicken wings in a bowl with some baking powder. This method, along with the use of a baking rack to circulate airflow throughout the wings; helps to ensure super crispy, fried-like, skin. Yessir. It yields to you such perfection + greatness, just peep the photos below if you think I’m lying, my friends.
- Seasoning: I’m keeping it oh so simple here with the seasonings since the honey chipotle sauce is the real star in this recipe. With that being said, the use of either seasoning salt (such as Lawry’s) or cajun/creole seasoning (my personal fave, Tony Chachere’s) for the chicken wings works well!
- Honey Chipotle Sauce: For this delicious liquid gold, you’ll need: a can of chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, honey, brown sugar, and soy sauce. These four little ingredients sure do make one hell of a tasty lip-smacking situation! Consequently, please beware that the chipotle peppers do pack some heat. However, the addition of the honey, brown sugar, and soy sauce helps to balance the overall taste. All ingredients can be combined in a food processor, blender, nutribullet, immersion blender, or whatever other gadget you have on hand.
Can I Store Away These Baked Honey Chipotle Wings?
I’d be hard pressed to believe that there will be any leftovers of these crispy baked honey chipotle wings, ha! But you can store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. And a little longer in the freezer. For reheating purposes, I highly recommend an oven as opposed to the microwave to prevent any sogginess.
Will Other Chicken Parts Work Well?
Yes! While my recipe is specifically made for the use of *chicken wings*, you could absolutely use other chicken parts if your heart (and stomach) desires. For example; chicken thighs, breasts, legs, and even tenderloins, will work great!
What Can I Pair With These Baked Honey Chipotle Wings?
To begin, I’d recommend some creamy ranch or blue cheese dressing… celery, carrot sticks, cauliflower, and/or other vegetables. In addition, other great yummy recipes to serve alongside with these chicken wings include:
So, How Do I Make These Chicken Wings?
First, season the chicken wings; place them in a large resealable bag, and let sit in refrigerator for at least one hour, preferably overnight. Next, preheat the oven to 350°F. Using a large bowl, combine the chicken wings and baking powder together. Toss them together in the bowl with tongs until all chicken wings are fully coated.
Use a large baking sheet fitted with an oven safe rack, and arrange chicken wings on top of baking rack. If you don’t have a large enough baking sheet, use two smaller baking sheets that are still fitted with a rack. The rack in place makes sure that there is airflow throughout the wings, enabling them to get crispy all over. Thus, preventing soggy bottoms and no need to flip over wings halfway through. Bake wings for one hour or until wings are cooked through completely.
While the wings are cooking, make the honey chipotle sauce. This is super easy! Give the chipotle peppers, honey, brown sugar, and soy sauce a quick blitz together and set aside. Lastly, when the chicken wings come out of the oven, immediately pour the honey chipotle sauce over them. Serve quickly, pair with your favorite dipping situation, and enjoy!
These here baked honey chipotle wings are seriously by far my most favorite chicken wing recipe to date! They’re so easy to make, wildly delicious, and they have a nice fiery kick that leaves you feenin’ for another bite.
